What lies behind us
and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

What does it
mean to have a sacred place?
“This is an absolute necessity for anyone today. You must have a
room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don’t know what was
in the newspapers that morning, you don’t know who your friends are,
you don’t know what you owe anybody,
you don’t know what anybody owes you.
This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what
you are and what you might be.
This is a place
of creative incubation.
At first you might find that nothing happens there. But if you have
a sacred place and use it, something will eventually happen there.
- Joseph Campbell

I can’t
imagine my life without Tai Chi Chuan. The only regret I have about
learning Tai Chi Chuan is that I didn’t learn it earlier in life.
Learning Tai Chi has helped me realize that everything in my life is a
part of my daily practice. I have been able to integrate the basic
principles of Tai Chi: Sticking, Rooting and especially Yielding into my
everyday life. The sequence and postures within the Short Form have
allowed me to experience meditation within exquisite movements. At
Natural Step Tai Chi the instruction is thorough yet gentle with plenty
of individual attention.
Through my Tai Chi practice I have developed a greater sense of self
awareness. This awareness goes beyond myself and helps me realize my
place in the Cosmos
and that we are all connected to each other and
everything else around us.
The movements
in Tai Chi are exquisite. Tai Chi is the meditation and relaxation
experience I had hoped for but was not experiencing in sitting
meditation. For me, Tai Chi has been a perfect combination of spiritual
and physical activity.
I have arthritis; Tai Chi and Shibashi movements have strengthened my joints and improved my posture.

I am a young woman who has cerebral palsy. I participate on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Tai Chi program at the Courage Center. I benefited from the class because it has helped me learn how to deep breath which allows me to have a calming effect on my anxiety disorder. I often feel energized by practicing my Tai Chi at home. The instructors name is Colin Snow. I highly recommend taking his class.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me the very beginnings of Tai Chi. I could come to your class worn and exhausted and leave feeling full and warm and centered. You are a wonderful teacher, so calm and patient. Your ability to explain and demonstrate is so gentle and considerate. Thank you for all you have given to me. I would very much appreciate being given a chance to buy your audio tape of the short form when it is completed. If you ever come back to St. Louis Park, let me know. I will visit your web site now and then.
-Barbara Jacquith

I felt Colin worked with the various personalities in the group effectively and respectfully, and got a sense that he is genuine in his commitment to centered health through Tai Chi practice.

I love the class so much and playing Tai Chi has become such a joy for me that I can’t imagine giving it up at this point. I’ve started to notice that I move differently in relationship to my entire world. I don’t even pour water into a cup for tea in the same way. I notice things now. I feel everything more succinctly now. Sticking and rooting have actually become integral aspects of my life as I go through the motions of each day…now if I can only integrate the yielding…

Hi Colin. I don't usually have the time to tell you how much I get out of the Stage 1 Tai Chi (and accompanying warm up movements) that I have learned so far. Even though I must be the slowest of learners, each day that I practice I discover new things. Small things. Such as really feeling and appreciating the 'push' of one foot as the other fills, or sensing the connection between an ascending hand as the other drifts down. I probably could just use what I have learned so far to have a lifetime of discovery. So thank you for that.

I find your style of teaching and encouraging words as we move through the session very helpful.

It was so nice to meet you Tuesday evening and thank you for allowing me to attend the first class with no obligation. I'm not sure what it is about it that I like, but I will back next Tuesday with my check. Is it possible that after just the first class that I could have more energy the next morning? I played Tai Chi yesterday twice and once this morning and I just have so much energy. I'm able to pop out of bed in the morning and get started. That is amazing!!!

When practicing Tai Chi in class and at
home, I feel energized and, at the
same time, more relaxed and calm. I feel I have become more focused and
aware of my body, and its movements, posture and breathing. It has
helped
me slow down and quiet my mind and body. Thank you very much.

Do you remember me from a class that you taught in St.Cyres school hall in Penarth? You left because you were moving to Norway, I heard that you did not stay there but nothing since. I was looking on the net when I saw your details so I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to say thank you for helping me acquire the wonderful gift of Tai Chi. I still do my form whenever I can. Good luck Colin and once again thank you.
